Park Play with Cousin Caleb

After a yummy dinner at Lolo's (Mexican restaurant in MB), with Nai-Nai & Yeye Ream, we took the cousins (Maddie & Caleb, & his parents Diane & Russ) to Cloisters Park to wear them out. It was a nice cool evening & not too crowded. The kids had a good time running, swinging, climbing & eating. Yes, eating. Seems Caleb has an affinity for the good ole MB sand! The plan worked well for us-Maddie went to sleep by about 9:15!

Library Puppeteer

I took Madeline to her first library story time today. We were told that there was going to be a magician/puppeteer there. (Thanks Auntie Julie!) It took Maddie a while to warm up to him, but about 30 minutes into it, she was up front with the rest of the kids. (She is in the middle of the sea of kids in the last picture.) My niece, Diane, her husband Russ, & their son Caleb were there too.

We're Ba-a-a-ck!

Hey! As you can tell, we're finally able to upload pictures again. Michael had made some changes to our router last week that wouldn't (for some reason) let us upload pictures. It's fixed now, so watch out! Many Pictures & Posts to come! haha

Heat Wave!

This is our thermometer sitting in the living room on Fri June 20th. The big number is the temp outside & the smaller one to the left is inside the house. Yep! You're reading it right! The temp outside on Friday was 107 & 99 in the house. Not a pretty day around here. We are not supposed to get that hot here. Michael bought one of the last 2 kiddie pools in the area the night before. There are no fans to be found in the whole county!

"Matt won't realize it for another few seconds, but I just pottied!"

Happy Birthday Honey!

WOW! Watching baseball in high definition is amazing. You feel like you can reach out & touch the sea creatures on Discovery channel HD. Now the non-HD channels look pretty grainy! Boy, did I get spoiled quickly!
It is a great babysitter-for Michael! :)

Flour & Sugar!

Here is the picture I was trying to tell you about.
(I was able to upload the picture using Michael's computer)
I will try to do more later & get you caught up in the Phillips Phamily Phive life!

No fun!

Ok, blogging is just NO fun when I can't put pictures up. :( Yesterday, Juliette was here & we made brownies together with Miss Madeline. (The older kids were at summer school) Juel was mixing the flour & sugar together & the next thing we know, Miss M is eating a spoonful! Yucky! But she seemed to like it. So just imagine her standing there, flour flying everywhere! :)

Problems

We are still here...it's just been a few days since I've blogged. I am having problems uploading pictures & I know that's all you're looking for here. Sorry :( And I have some cute ones to put up too! LOL I have my computer expert working on my problem & as soon as we can get it resolved, we'll post more pictures. I know you're really here to see the kids!
It has been very hot here. Yesterday it got to 108-110 here in Morro Bay. Our house got to 100 at one point! It was just too hot for Maddie to nap yesterday. Poor thing. She is sleeping today & it's only 98 outside & 87 inside. Where's my parka???
Yes, I am a huge wuss & can't handle the heat. Thank goodness we only get a few days a couple times during the year of this kind of weather.
Now to find an air conditioned restaurant....ahhhhh

Needle in a haystack

Last night was the 8th grade graduation party at LOMS. It went pretty well. Most of the kids all looked really nice. The decorations all looked really good, considering the theme-"Nightmare Before High School". I really can't complain to much, since I wasn't on the committee that came up with the theme. (I haven't even seen the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas", that this party was themed after.) I think the kids had a good time.
I worked the photo booth with my friend, Judy. We probably only took about 60-70 pictures, but some of the pictures had up to 12-14 kids in them & you need to make a copy for everyone in the group. We had 2 printers going & still couldn't get them all printed. These little photo printers are pretty cool, but it takes about 2-3 mins per print! We needed to bring the printers home to print more pictures & then we can take them to the school & they will send them out.
When the party was over & after we cleaned everything up, we came by home to get Matt's stuff to spend the night at Edward's & then dropped him off over there. I had thought about stopping to pick up a snack on the way home about 11 but couldn't find my wallet. I figured it had fallen out of my purse & was under the seat. Well, when I got home, I looked for it in the Tahoe-under the seats, in the cracks of the seats, everywhere & also looked in the house & still couldn't find it! :( I called Matt to have him check the Griley's driveway & they didn't find it. I even called Judy, who worked the photo booth with me, (she's a friend of mine, so I felt ok about calling at 11:15 at night!) to see if she had picked it up with her stuff. She didn't have it. Michael & I drove back to the school at 11:30 & looked in the parking lot & hallway, but still didn't find my wallet. I think I stayed awake until about 1:30 am trying to retrace my steps & figure out when I had last seen it & where.
I called a few more people this morning to see if they knew anything & also sent an email to Diane Frost (principal) & Dr. Elfrink (vice principal), to see if anyone had found a wallet. I could not & did not want to believe that one of the kids stole it last night. I just didn't! I talked with Kelly & she hadn't heard from anyone yet if they had found it. I had to call to cancel all my credit/debit cards & set up appt for DMV to get a replacement drivers license. Took about 2 hours to do it all. I also thought that we should look through the recycling at school, just in case it got picked up in there when we were cleaning up last night. Kind of like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Marcus, Jonathan, Edward & Matt were getting buzz haircuts for summer basketball (which starts on Mon), so when they got home, we went over to the school. They hopped the fence to go through all the recycling. I think they actually were having a lot of fun doing it! Throwing things at each other, making a huge mess, that they had to clean up & they did. I kept waiting for the police to show up & I wouldn't have any ID to show them!
There was one more pile of wadded up black paper & plastic that I had Matt go through & guess what? HE FOUND IT!!!! I could not believe it!!!!! It's a dark brown wallet that got wrapped up in black paper. I'm still in shock that he found it. Everything was there. The things I was most concerned about were the gift cards that I had, since I had already cancelled all the credit cards.
So here's what I think what must have happened: I had gotten into my purse to get an ink pen out. As I was digging for that, I pulled my wallet out & put it on the table that was covered with black paper, and forgot about it. I must have left it laying there & then when we cleaned up, it was dark & we just didn't see it. It just got wrapped up in the black paper & thrown into the recycling!
I still think it is such a miracle that Matt even found it!
THANK YOU MATT!!!

Madeline turns 2!

Our littlest one turns 2 today! We had a small birthday party last night at our house. Both sets of grandparents were able to make it. (Thanks for coming!)

Here is Maddie delicately picking little pieces of frosting off her Kai-Lan cake. She enjoyed telling everyone who was who in the picture.

This is a very special gift from big brother Matt. He made a wooden piggy bank in his woodshop class at school, & got a grade of "10" on it. Very nice workmanship!

I guess Lindsay thought our house was just too quiet, so she got Maddie an electronic keyboard! :) She loves to play with it. Maybe she will be our little musician. I think Lindsay likes to play with it as much as Maddie.

Little background on this picture: Lindsay was trying to get Maddie's jammies on, but Madeline scooted off the bed & ran into the living room to get in her new car. She LOVES this car! Yep, all she's wearing is her smile! :)

Graduation 2008

Darren Paul Ream
class of 2008
Coalinga, CA

Congratulations to Darren, (our nephew), on his high school graduation!

Here is a picture before graduation. (Greg had already left to save seats & Brenda is taking the picture.)

Darren, Grandpa & Grandma Ream, Jeff (in the shadow), Keith, Lindsay & Maddie, Aunt Darlene, Mike & Karen

.

Proud parents: Brenda & Greg, & the man of the hour, Darren!

We were all invited to Greg & Brenda's house for a wonderful tri tip dinner at 5:30!
Graduation starts late (8:00) in Coalinga-not sure why, but maybe so they can do fireworks?
They did shoot some fireworks off after the signing of the National Anthem & it kind of scared Madeline. She was kind of clingy the rest of the evening-which isn't all bad! :) She did really quite well throughout the 2+ hour ceremony.
There was a beautiful finale of fireworks & then we headed back to Greg & Brenda's house to get Maddie changed for bed & to get Darlene's car.
They are doing a lot of work on the road between Morro Bay & Coalinga & there was talk of a 20+mile detour that starts at 11pm, so we were rushing to try & beat it. We got to the area at 11:05 & were able to sail right on through! Yeah! We pulled into our driveway at about 12:35 or so!
Matt had a baseball game & was unable to go with us. He was not very happy about missing Darren's graduation, but they were down to 9 players & he was to pitch. We won-but he doesn't know the score! Thanks to the Griley's for taking care of getting Matt to & from school & the game & staying the night.
