Lindsay-Winter Formal & Birthday Bash!

Time to Celebrate for Lindsay!
She went to the Winter Formal (on Valentine's day) with a couple of her girlfriends. They got ready at our house, so we left so they could do it without Maddie's "help". But since I was gone, I had to rely on Lindsay for pictures-she gave me 2! Better then nothing!

Lindsay's 18th birthday was on Monday, Feb 16th. She & several of her girlfriends planned her party. It was a formal event with everyone dressing up. They met in San Luis to go see a movie "He's Just Not That Into You", then they went on a scavenger hunt through the streets of downtown SLO & then somewhere to have her cheeseburger cake. Happy Birthday sweetie!
(She didn't let us go to the party, so I didn't get any pictures of this event either!)

Happy Birthday Matt!

Yesterday was Matt's birthday. He is now 15 years old. Where does the time go?

Here are some pictures from his day.

(Lindsay turned 18 last week, but I am waiting for pictures from her friends to make her page to post.)

Happy Birthday Matt!

My funny Valentine

Maddie has this thing for glasses-she loves them! In her Burger King kids meal today, she received these glasses that fit her personality perfectly!

The boys go out!

Our kitties are about 5 months old in these pictures (taken in mid Jan). They were finally able to go outside after getting all their vaccinations & getting neutered. They weren't really sure what to think. I love their faces in the middle picture-it just looks like they are loving the outside, the feel of the warm sunshine on their faces. Spencer has become the one that likes to go out the most. Scout got scared one of the first times he went out by a bully cat & is very hesitant to go out.

I'd rather play with you than basketball! (part 2)

Finally got this page done! Love how dirty Maddie's face is! She loves to play in the gravel!

Valentine Play Dough

Yesterday, Maddie & I made red play dough for her to give out as her Valentine's in our 2 year olds Parent Participation class. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go to class today, but we got the Valentines there!
As you can tell from some of the pictures, Maddie loved playing with the flour. Or is she practicing putting on her makeup?

Chinese Food 2-3-09

For our own family Chinese New Year celebration, I thought we would attempt to make some Chinese food. (Since most of the family was sick for Chinese New Year, Jan 26th, we had to put off our celebration until everyone was feeling better & would appreciate my attempts!)
Maddie & I made Chinese Almond Cookies, Fortune Cookies & Haystacks for dessert. (I don't know that haystacks are really a Chinese dish, but they use chow mein noodles, so it counted!)
For our dinner, we had Egg Drop Soup (yummy), pot stickers (got to love Costco!), chicken chow mein (was ok), fried rice (yummy) & teriyaki chicken (costco, again!).
The highlight? Cooking with Maddie. Look at that face!!!

Xin Nian Kuai Le! (Happy Chinese New Year!)

Yesterday, we had our Families with Children from China Central Coast Chapter, Chinese New Year Celebration. There were traditional arts & crafts with students from Cal Poly Chinese Student Association, a Tai-Chi demonstration, a book signing, yummy food, and of course the Cal Poly Lion Dancers & Drummers. Maddie was afraid at first of the Lion Dancers, but after a little bit, she wanted down to go see the drummers. Once there, she moved to the beat of the drum. It was priceless. I wish we would have had the video camera. They even allowed her to beat on the drum-& she is pretty good at keeping a beat!

Rainy Day Fun

Today we had a lovely rainy day, and what better way to spend it then jumping in puddles?! Who wants to stay in and clean the house when there are puddles calling us? We had SO much fun. The best spot was at the corner where all the "streams" came together & rushed down hill. It was great walking back upstream & watching the water rush around our feet. After we got thoroughly soaked & cold, we came in & put Maddie in a nice hot bubble bath! What a fun morning!
