Needle in a haystack

Last night was the 8th grade graduation party at LOMS. It went pretty well. Most of the kids all looked really nice. The decorations all looked really good, considering the theme-"Nightmare Before High School". I really can't complain to much, since I wasn't on the committee that came up with the theme. (I haven't even seen the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas", that this party was themed after.) I think the kids had a good time.
I worked the photo booth with my friend, Judy. We probably only took about 60-70 pictures, but some of the pictures had up to 12-14 kids in them & you need to make a copy for everyone in the group. We had 2 printers going & still couldn't get them all printed. These little photo printers are pretty cool, but it takes about 2-3 mins per print! We needed to bring the printers home to print more pictures & then we can take them to the school & they will send them out.
When the party was over & after we cleaned everything up, we came by home to get Matt's stuff to spend the night at Edward's & then dropped him off over there. I had thought about stopping to pick up a snack on the way home about 11 but couldn't find my wallet. I figured it had fallen out of my purse & was under the seat. Well, when I got home, I looked for it in the Tahoe-under the seats, in the cracks of the seats, everywhere & also looked in the house & still couldn't find it! :( I called Matt to have him check the Griley's driveway & they didn't find it. I even called Judy, who worked the photo booth with me, (she's a friend of mine, so I felt ok about calling at 11:15 at night!) to see if she had picked it up with her stuff. She didn't have it. Michael & I drove back to the school at 11:30 & looked in the parking lot & hallway, but still didn't find my wallet. I think I stayed awake until about 1:30 am trying to retrace my steps & figure out when I had last seen it & where.
I called a few more people this morning to see if they knew anything & also sent an email to Diane Frost (principal) & Dr. Elfrink (vice principal), to see if anyone had found a wallet. I could not & did not want to believe that one of the kids stole it last night. I just didn't! I talked with Kelly & she hadn't heard from anyone yet if they had found it. I had to call to cancel all my credit/debit cards & set up appt for DMV to get a replacement drivers license. Took about 2 hours to do it all. I also thought that we should look through the recycling at school, just in case it got picked up in there when we were cleaning up last night. Kind of like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Marcus, Jonathan, Edward & Matt were getting buzz haircuts for summer basketball (which starts on Mon), so when they got home, we went over to the school. They hopped the fence to go through all the recycling. I think they actually were having a lot of fun doing it! Throwing things at each other, making a huge mess, that they had to clean up & they did. I kept waiting for the police to show up & I wouldn't have any ID to show them!
There was one more pile of wadded up black paper & plastic that I had Matt go through & guess what? HE FOUND IT!!!! I could not believe it!!!!! It's a dark brown wallet that got wrapped up in black paper. I'm still in shock that he found it. Everything was there. The things I was most concerned about were the gift cards that I had, since I had already cancelled all the credit cards.
So here's what I think what must have happened: I had gotten into my purse to get an ink pen out. As I was digging for that, I pulled my wallet out & put it on the table that was covered with black paper, and forgot about it. I must have left it laying there & then when we cleaned up, it was dark & we just didn't see it. It just got wrapped up in the black paper & thrown into the recycling!
I still think it is such a miracle that Matt even found it!
THANK YOU MATT!!!
