Phillips Phamily Phive Phlue Phlash...
Michael-all better
Lindsay-after missing 2 days of school, went back today, but not 100%
Maddie-cough is better, but starting with a runny nose now
Karen-still going strong :)
Matt-home sick today, but said he is going to school no matter what tomorrow-could that have anything to do with a basketball game tomorrow night at Cabrillo???? Hmmm, I wonder.

Thanks for humoring me at my weak attempt at humor!

Phillips Phamily Phive has the Phlue!

They're dropping one by one over here. Maddie has been sick with a nasty cough since last Friday, but is getting better. Sunday, over night, was a night that I'm sure Michael would love to completely remove from his memory. He had the nasty flu. Poor guy.
Monday morning Matt had to go to the dentist for his first fillings & wasn't feeling so hot after that, so he stayed home from school. He slept a lot of the afternoon & felt better last night.
Then today, Lindsay stayed home with the flu. I hope she feels better tomorrow. Matt came home from basketball practice tonight not feeling well. He has a game tomorrow-I bet you he WON'T want to stay home & miss that, no matter how bad he feels! Just hope he doesn't make the team sick!
I feel like scrubbing the house top to bottom with Lysol!
Here's to better days, really soon! I hope!

I'd rather play with you than basketball!

This was the sight looking out our living room window yesterday afternoon. Priceless. If you know Matt, you know how much he loves to play basketball. But you can see here how much more he loves his little sister! They have a very special bond.

Crab: delicacy or bait?

I must tell you, I am NOT a fan of the crab! We had the crab feed dinner fundraiser for the MBHS baseball team tonight. Matt was our server. He did a really good job & spoke to people, smiled & kept asking if he could get us anything. We had bread, salad, rice & then crab. Chocolate chip cookies for dessert. (the best part!) Michael said they had brought in 800 pounds of crab (approx 400 pounds of meat). They did run out of bread & salad. That was a bummer, that tasted really yummy. Michael & I both tried the crab, neither one of us liked it. We had some people at our table that just downed the stuff. (We didn’t know any of them & they didn't even have any kids in the program!) I think Matt must have brought out at least 4-6 big pans of crab to our table. But, we did try it. We really did.
The place was packed (well over 200 people), & they even had to set up more tables. (I had gone this morning & helped set up tables & decorate, & Michael went this afternoon to help set up auction stuff.)
There were silent auction items & then after dinner they did a live auction. They probably raised about $7000 in the live auction items alone & there were only about 6 items in that. Don’t know how much they raised in the actual dinner. (Someone said they had raised between $10,000-12,000 last year, but weren't expecting as much this year.)
With that many people in there & beer & wine flowing pretty freely, it was really noisy so it was hard to hear the raffle numbers & names they were calling & then the auction items. But maybe all that alcohol helped the bidding!
I think we may offer to help set up again next year & just give the baseball program a $100 check & not go to the dinner!
SO, that was our evening. Can you top that fun? Haha

Back in the land of the computing

I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it....dodododo (musical interlude by the Pointer Sisters)
We got my computer back! The miracle man, Greg at Strictly PC, was able to recover all my data-most importantly all my digi pages & pictures (over 50 gigabytes worth, which for us un-technical people, is a boatload!) I about cried when he told me he was able to recover it all. May seem silly, but it was an answer to prayer.
Michael is working his little heart out now getting my computer all set up for how I had liked it. When they fixed the computer, they have to put the restore disc in & that wipes out all the info you had on there. That makes your computer just like when your first got it, so you need to put all your programs on it & personalize it.
So, (another song here) Happy days are here again
Be thankful that you can't hear me sing!

Mourning the BSOD!!!!

I got the blue screen of death on my computer yesterday. :( Michael is trying everything he can to get my computer working again. Bless his heart! Thank you honey. But so far he hasn't been able to recover anything. He had backed up my computer a few weeks ago (all my digi pages & pictures) but if we put the restore disc in my computer, we may lose everything!!!! Christmas 2008 pictures, all my word docs, emails, etc. I am trying to decide if we should call someone & pay big bucks to see if they can recover things or not. All the research he has done on it says that it may not necessarily be the hard drive.
I have gotten way too attached & dependent upon my computer-it stores sooo much stuff for me. Now I'm trying to face the fact that I may lose it all. But I must keep it in perspective, it is JUST STUFF!
For now, Michael has me set up on his computer. (he had to get a new laptop on Wed because his wi-fi was not working all the time. What are the odds of 2 computers going out within such a short time?
SO, if you want to get any emails from me, I'm going to need you to email me. I have NO one's addresses at this point.
Thanks!

Happy New Year!

Here it is about 4 am on Jan 1, 2009. Happy New Year to you!
We had a fun but relaxing evening. Lindsay babysat for some of our neighbors from 9-1:45am. We missed her and waited movie-time for her to get home. Meanwhile at home, we had Juel & my nephew Keith, over. You can see in the pictures, some of the yummy things we were making to eat - peppermint patties and Oreo balls. Grandma Ream sent over canapes & goldfish crackers. As you can tell in our midnight buffet picture, we had plenty to eat!
The movies have started & we are watching The Dark Knight. Not sure what is playing next. But I have more digi pages to work on! LOL
